Soundedit ’17 – David Bowie’s drummer and producer will perform during the Festival

Holy Holy is the band for those who miss the sound of early David Bowie recordings. The musicians say: “We’re not a tribute band, we are the real deal! We created those songs with David Bowie”. Soundedit is proud to announce the supergroup’s only performance in Poland!

The band was founded by: Woody Woodmansey – legendary drummer of Spider from Mars, who performed with David Bowie from 1970 till 1973 – and Tony Visconti, a longtime producer, friend and bassist who contributed to Bowie’s third album, “The Man Who Sold the World”. Both artists have discovered various sounds together and went through different musical worlds. Their career defined and inspired subsequent generations of musicians.

Tony Visconti began his artistic way in the late 1960s. He has collaborated with such artists as The Moody Blues, T. Rex, Thin Lizzy, Gentle Giant, Boomtown Rats, Hazel O’Connor, The Stranglers, Manic Street Preachers and Morrissey. But the longest of all his collaborations was with David Bowie. He created the original sound of Bowie’s thirteen albums. Among them are the artist’s most important ones, such as “Space Oddity”, “Heroes”, “The Next Day” and the last one – “Blackstar”.

The supergroup is completed by: Glen Gregory (Heaven 17), James Stevenson (The Alarm, Chelsea, Scott Walker, Gen X, The Cult), Paul Cudderford (Ian Hunter, Bob Geldof), Berenice Scott (Heaven 17), Terry Edwards (PJ Harvey, The Blockheads, Department S) and Jessica Lee Morgan.

During their concerts Holy Holy are performing the entire “Man Who Sold the World” album, released in November 1970, David Bowie’s third studio offering, or “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars”, the fifth album by the British singer. This one was released in June 1972. It is a glam rock concept album, telling the story of an alien called Ziggy Stardust who comes to Earth with his band and becomes a rock star. According to music magazine “Melody Maker”, this is the most important album of the 1970s.

During the award ceremony, Visconti will receive the “Man with the Golden Ear” award for “lifetime achievements in music production”.

The main theme of the festival stays the same – “I Am the Sound”. This is true for anyone who’ll join us in Łódź on the last weekend of October to get to know more about the work of music producers, listen to lectures, take part in workshops and discussions. Soon we’ll announce further surprising events of this year’s edition of our festival that will take place between 26 and 29 of October 2017.

I Am the Sound! I am the tone. I am the music. Welcome to Soundedit. Welcome to Łódź.
