From the very beginning, Soundedit Festival has presented in detail all aspects of music and its production. We’re proud to announce more artists who will join Skalpel and Michael Nyman on this year’s bill. Daniel Miller, Depeche Mode’s producer, comes back to Łódź to play a DJ set. Brian Griffin, outstanding music photographer, will open an exhibition during which he will premiere his book “Pop”. Wytwórnia club will also host a performance of electronic music legend – Gary Numan.
On 27 October 2017, Gary Numan – the undisputed star of electronic and industrial music – will play a special concert at Wytwórnia club during Soundedit Festival. His unique vocal style evokes a feeling of machinery and icy alienation whilst provoking strong emotions within the electronic noise. This energy connects with his loyal and ever-growing fan base of self-proclaimed Numanoids. The performance at Soundedit will be a part of his world tour promoting Numan’s newest album, “Savage”.
The following day, also at Wytwórnia, the artist will be awarded the Man with the Golden Ear Award for “Visionary and Pioneering Solutions in Music Production”.
Depeche Mode fans will surely be celebrating. Łódź will be once again visited by Daniel Miller – the founder and chairman of Mute, one of the world’s most innovative record labels. It has a long history of Number One chart successes in the US and UK. Miller presents an innovative approach to record production, artistic work and label management. Depeche Mode’s endless list of success is primarily attributed to Daniel Miller.
During the 2011 edition of the International Festival of Music Producers and Sound Designers Soundedit, Daniel Miller was awarded the Man with the Golden Ear Award for “for Visionary and Pioneering Solutions in Music Production”.
At Soundedit ’17, on Friday, 27 October, this British artist will again host a unique DJ set during an afterparty at Wytwórnia club. Daniel Miller’s visit to Łódź is directly connected with the promotion of Brian Griffin’s photo album “Pop”. Both gentlemen have been friends since early 80s.
Soundedit Festival and the Photographic Society of Łódź (102 Piotrkowska street) invite you to an exhibition and a premiere of a book by a photographer who has worked with many artists – Brian Griffin. Throughout the years, Griffin has photographed musicians from such genres as post punk, new wave and new romantic. The material for this book has been chosen from over 160 photo sessions done for more than a hundred artists.
It includes plenty of previously unpublished photos, including those of major stars such as: Ian Dury, The Clash, Depeche Mode, Echo And The Bunnymen, Iggy Pop, Kate Bush, The Specials, Elvis Costello and many more.
The premiere of this unique publication will take place in Łódź. Of course everyone will have a chance to buy the book, get it signed and exchange opinions with the author.
Tickets for Gary Numan’s Friday performance and afterparty cost 115 PLN and are available on: bilety24.pl, ticketpro.pl, and at Wytwórnia club (29 Łąkowa street, phone no.: +42 639 55 55, firstname.lastname@example.org). We’d also like to remind you that you can already purchase tickets for Michael Nyman’s performance. It will take place at the Łódź Philharmonic on Sunday, 29 October, 7PM, and will include all of the composer’s most notable pieces of work written for “The Piano” and Greenaway’s films. Tickets priced at 199, 149 and 119 PLN are available exclusively on Bilety24.pl. This concert is organized in cooperation with the Artur Rubinstein Łódź Philharmonic.
Michael Nyman will also present his multimedia installation “THE TWELVE-WALLED ROOM, a 12-screen video installation by Michael Nyman” at Fabryka Sztuki (3 Tymienieckiego street). It will be on display from 29 October till 18 November. Entry to both Nyman’s installation and Brian Griffin’s photo exhibition is free.
The main theme of the festival stays the same – “I Am the Sound”. This is true for anyone who’ll join us in Łódź on the last weekend of October to get to know more about the work of music producers, listen to lectures, take part in workshops and discussions. Soon we’ll announce further surprising events of this year’s edition of our festival that will take place between 26 and 29 of October 2017.
I Am the Sound! I am the tone. I am the music. Welcome to Soundedit. Welcome to Łódź.
